Lifelong Learning with Yellow: The Workplace Learning Solution from Network Operator Stedin
For the 1,850 technicians at network operator Stedin, effective training is crucial to perform their work safely and efficiently. The network operator aims to make learning not only smarter, faster, and better, but also continuous, cost-effective, and more efficient. Furthermore, the successful workplace learning solution ‘Yellow’, which was already used by the troubleshooting technicians, needed to be extended to the High Voltage department.
The complete task set of employees in the High Voltage department has been mapped and added to ‘Yellow’. This covers all types of work, including tasks such as pulling and connecting cables, installing cabinets, and troubleshooting. The existing adaptive learning solution in Drillster has been expanded with practice questions and instructional videos to optimally prepare technicians for their mandatory triennial exam.
» Reduced training time and faster deployability: Technicians can rely on ‘Yellow’ for support during their work, eliminating the need for classroom training and enabling them to work independently more quickly.
» Improved exam results: Continuous learning has increased the pass rate from 70% to over 80%.
» Fewer errors and greater safety: With employees having access to the right information at any time, (installation) errors are reduced, and safety is enhanced.
‘Yellow’ is continuously expanding and becoming more integrated within Stedin. The focus for the future is on optimizing support for both new and experienced employees, ensuring they always have access to relevant knowledge at the right moment.
With Yellow, it feels as if someone is literally looking over the shoulder of our technicians, helping them answer challenging technical questions. We aim to make this solution increasingly accessible throughout our organization.
