The Learning Technologies awards recognize the commitment, enthusiasm and passion for learning technologies across the world. From a record number of submissions finalists are selected by an independent judging panel of experts organized by the eLearning Network.

Neeltje de Ruijter, Consultant Xprtise: “I was already very proud of the innovative learning and performance support solution AskAlrijne that we have realized with and for the Alrijne Academy. That our efforts are now acknowledged with a nomination for a Learning Technologies Award makes me very happy and super proud!”

Learning solution for medical arithmetic skills

In Dutch legislation, the intravenous administration of medicine is defined as a risky medical procedure that can only be performed by qualified healthcare professionals. Following this the executive board of the Alrijne Healthcare Group has defined medical arithmetic a crucial skill in the medication dispensing process. Nurses are obliged to demonstrate and maintain mastery. Nurses who cannot demonstrate this are no longer allowed to administer medication. Xprtise developed an innovative learning solution based on the 5 Moments of Need™ methodology by which nurses can prove their obligatory mastery of medical arithmetic skills, called AskAlrijne. The AskAlrijne platform integrates two innovative learning solutions which are Performance Support and Adaptive Learning.

The performance support element empowers nurses to work more effective at every moment of need. It provides exactly the right amount of information at the moment of apply. Adaptive Learning helps nurses to continuously keep their math skills up to date.

Caroline Luijbregts, Learning & Development advisor at Alrijne Healthcare Group: “I am very pleased and honored to be nominated for this award. It is a great compliment for all the work and effort Xprtise and Alrijne Academy put into the project.”
